U of MD Medical Center

Job Facts
Client: Harmon/Chesapeake
Location: Baltimore, MD
Completed: March 1994
The new University of Maryland Medical Center in downtown Baltimore wanted a grand entrance and atrium for its new facilities. B&B Welding, working with Harmon Contracting, went straight to work fabricating some architecturally exposed steel tube framing to support a barrel-roof rotunda. In addition, B&B fabricated three stories of catwalks on the roof (which are topped by three football-shaped platforms leading to the flag pole) and a canopy at the main entrance made from heavily rolled fabricated plate girts.
